The Silent Enemy
In the Canadian Northwest, the Chippewa tribe struggles to find food before the onset of winter. Chief Chetoga agrees with the hunter Baluk to move north toward the caribou herds, despite the protests of Dagwan, the medicine man. After the move, hunting proves unsuccessful, despite the numerous animals around them. Chetoga's daughter, Neewa (Spotted Elk) mocks Baluk, but when Chetoga dies, he is made the new chief. When his people remain without food, the tribe turns against him.
