A renowned but eccentric undersea expert - who may or may not be a fraud - sets out in search of a shark that killed an old friend and crew-mate. But the journey is beset by problems, not least thanks to a British journalist and a man claiming to be the scientist's long-lost son. Cult director Wes Anderson's penchant for whimsy overwhelms this offbeat comedy drama, making it something of an acquired taste - fans of his work will no doubt love it and Bill Murray is a delight as the deadpan explorer, but the uninitiated might find it a little too self-consciously quirky. Owen Wilson, Cate Blanchett and Willem Dafoe also star. The film boasts stop motion animation sea life and a soundtrack of David Bowie songs in Portuguese.
