An Irish family try to put their tragic past behind them and start a new life in America. Actor Johnny sneaks his wife and two daughters over the border from Canada into the US, hoping his career will take off in New York. However, the gritty realities of life in the city prove harder to cope with than expected. Critically acclaimed and beautifully touching drama, loosely based on the experiences of director Jim Sheridan, which tells it's story from the perspective of the two children, played by real life sisters Sarah and Emma Bolger.
