This examination of Fidel Castro's revolution brings to light the human rights abuses that his regime wrought on countless individuals, including political dissidents, poets and homosexuals. Director Néstor Almendros uses various interviews with Cuban refugees to address issues within the Cuban government that led to persecution and forced labor for many who disagreed with Castro. The interviewees include famed poet Armando Valladares, transvestite performer Caracol and Castro himself.
