This tragi-comedy tugs at the heartstrings and forces wry smiles exactly where it's meant to. It starts darkly, with a teenage boy's suicide, then follows the family - mom, dad, brother and sister - through their very real grieving processes. Mom (Sigourney Weaver) is a no-nonsense, pot-smoking kind of woman, who has her own way of coping with the loss of her oldest child. Dad (Jeff Daniels) is totally different, though, and falls apart. The sister takes her grieving back to college, leaving the youngest son to struggle with his feelings of inadequacy within the family - and a secret. Michelle Williams, Emile Hirsch and Kip Pardue co-star.
