1990, True Life
Robert Richardson (Blair Underwood) moves out of Alabama, believing that as a black man, he'll find more equality in Los Angeles. He quickly lands a job as a messenger for the Los Angeles Times. But then two white police officers make a small traffic arrest that sets off a string of race riots in L.A.'s Watts district. Since white reporters aren't allowed into these violent protests, the newspaper sends Robertson in to cover the events and talk to the rioters.
